What We're Advocating

  • This rule’s change reduces the number of reporting companies from an estimated 32 million businesses down to about 11,600; and

  • The interim final rule now applies only to companies formed under foreign law and registered to conduct business in any U.S. state or tribal jurisdiction (foreign companies) and foreign nationals.

What We're Saying

20 on the Rise: This week, NAA announced the inaugural 20 on the Rise class. The new and innovative program recognizes 20 rising rental housing industry professionals who have made significant professional achievements and demonstrate potential in their future careers. Read more

“Congratulations to the entire inaugural 20 on the Rise class,” said NAA’s Bob Pinnegar. “This recognition shows the incredible progress and impact that these rising professionals have worked very hard to demonstrate as their careers take off. I am excited to see the growth of these professionals as they work toward using their skills to make a difference in the rental housing industry.”

Amenity Evolution: “Looking at the ever-changing needs for amenity spaces, the National Apartment Association (NAA) asked apartment owners and operators which features were most important in communal spaces, electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, fitness centers, package rooms, and coworking spaces. For new construction, security in package rooms was the top feature (78.9%), followed by technology/connectivity (45.9%) and equipment (21.1%).” (Multifamily Executive).

What We're Hearing

Industry Win: “Recently confirmed U.S. Director of Federal Housing Bill Pulte has rescinded the Biden administration’s directives on multifamily leasing policies. These included 30-day advance lease termination notice requirements for properties funded by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac mortgages, according to an order dated March 24. Pulte noted in the order that many state and local governments already had existing laws governing notices and grace periods.” (Multifamily Dive).
