What We're Advocating

Emotional Support Animals: Last week, HUD issued guidance notifying headquarters and regional staff that effective immediately, for fair housing complaints related to animal-related reasonable accommodations, HUD will find reasonable cause and recommend charges only for cases involving animals that are trained to provide disability-related assistance, i.e., service animals. Read more.

Work Requirements: HUD recently closed the public comment period for its Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, “Establishing Flexibility for Implementation of Work Requirements and Term Limits.” If implemented, this proposal would permit public housing agencies (PHAs) and covered rental owners to implement work requirements and term limits as a condition of assistance for certain programs. Learn more.

Housing: “Mayor Zohran Mamdani plans to tackle 'inequitable' residential growth across New York City that allows many wealthy neighborhoods to add scant housing amid a massive shortage. Mamdani will roll out a set of zoning and land use initiatives on Tuesday aimed at changing this paradigm, as one plank of a wide-ranging housing plan.” (POLITICO
