FTC Rulemaking: NAA, its national coalition and 25 state and local affiliate partners commented on the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on “Unfair or Deceptive Rental Housing Fee Practices.” Learn more

Deeper Dive: NAA and coalition partners underscored in our comments that, “done right, new policy efforts can complement and support the ongoing work of rental housing providers in enabling greater price transparency for renters. However, regulatory requirements that do not account for the realities of rental housing operations could introduce unintended complexity, potentially increasing costs that may ultimately be borne by renters and diverting attention from property improvements and resident-facing services.”

Housing Legislation: “Congress wants to solve a national housing shortage. It might be making the problem worse... people in the housing industry are warning that language in the legislation — which is mired in a standoff between the House and Senate — has already frozen new investments for homes that are built with the intention of being rented out..” (POLITICO

HUD: “The Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Office of Native American Programs today announced more than $1.1 billion in Indian Housing Block Grant (IHBG) funding for eligible American Indian Tribes, Alaska Native Villages, and Tribally Designated Housing Entities (TDHEs) to support affordable housing projects in nearly 600 Tribal communities.” (HUD.gov
